Suzanne Somers has been fighting cancer for a long time and just spoke out about her latest battle. In the year 2000, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Somers posted an Instagram photo of herself standing with her spouse on July 31, 2023. People have been questioning her about her health since she has been missing from work, she wrote.
“As you know, I had breast cancer two decades ago, and it comes back every now and then, and I continue to fight it.” To battle it, I employed the most effective alternative and traditional remedies. This is not unfamiliar terrain for me. I’m a warrior who knows how to put on my fighting armor.”
Since 1977, Suzanne Sommers has been married to producer and TV personality Alan Hamel. Suzanne said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that she would not let cancer to dictate her life. When asked about the cancer reappearing after her first diagnosis, she replied she tries her “best not to let this insidious disease control me.”
“Like any cancer patient, you get a pit in your stomach when you hear the words, ‘It’s back.'” Then I put on my combat armor and prepare to go to fight. “This is a familiar battleground for me, and I’m a tough cookie,” she said.
Suzanne Somers Has Been Married Twice and Has a Son.
Suzanne Somers initially met Alan Hamel when he was hosting the game program The Anniversary Game. They were married in 1977. Somers revealed her first date with Hamel to Daily Beast Live in May 2021, stating she did everything her mother would not approve. She stated she was 20 years old at the time and had her “first pot brownie” believing she wouldn’t have another opportunity. “It’s the first time I’ve ever gone to a man’s hotel room, and I’ve never slept with a man on the first date.” But we’re still here after all these years. “I knew he was the one,” she continued.
Suzanne explained how she and Hamel have kept their spark alive in an interview with Daily Beast Live:
“I may be in my 70s now, but I always thought that when I got into this decade, it would be over, and I just want people to know that it ain’t over if you know how to take care of yourself.”
From 1965 until 1968, Suzanne was married to Bruce Somers. Bruce Jr., the couple’s son, is the director, chief storyteller, and creator of the ad firm Sincbox. Suzanne’s current spouse has been on series such as Razzle Dazzle, Mantrap, All in the Family, and others.

Suzanne Somers was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time in 2000. In a 2021 interview with Park Magazine, she said that after receiving her diagnosis, she accepted her situation and began to live her life. Suzanne said in an interview with Larry King in 2001 that she had been fighting the cancer for almost a year and required liposuction because she needed to alter everything after six weeks of radiation therapy.
She also said that she was receiving homeopathic therapy despite being instructed not to. Alan Hamel also talked to Page Six, stating that his wife had been battling cancer and hyperplasia for many years. He went on to say that she was granted the “all-clear” on June 6, 2023.
